I almost forgot about this variation on a Rum & Coke! It reappeared when I was sorting through some other items. It’s fun, easy going, and a bit sweet. Which makes me wonder why in the world it’s named after Edward Teach.

Silk Panties (etc.)
Let’s do a shot or two! Shots are most commonly done when a jolt of alcohol is wanted but the alcohol in question is too bad-tasting to want to savor. Thus the existence of chasers. I prefer shots that are interesting to taste, but just happen to be small. An amuse bouche of the bar, if you will.
Sex on the Beach
Tasty and fairly tame, yet just a little titillating to order. What’s not to love?
Cherried Cream Rum
Peaches and cream, strawberries and cream… fruit and cream seem to be a natural combination. There are several drinks which take advantage of this, and we’ll cover at least a few here.
Jalapeño Margarita
By request, a spicy drink! There are actually quite a few drinks which include spicy-hot ingredients, ranging from green peppercorns to serranos to various hot sauces and more. Considering what we know about such things, maybe we should look into making a few, no?
Harvey Wallbanger
This is really just a Screwdriver with some Galliano. Simple, tasty, and easy to scale to whatever size you want, even to making a pitcher. For the pitcher, translate the “fill” as 3 or 4 oz. of juice and multiply from there.
I have no idea if the following story is true, but it’s good enough to get repeated a lot. The drink is good enough to repeat, as well.
Bee’s Knees
Warm and a little breezy today at the villa: It feels like spring has started a week early! Let’s enjoy that with a classic Prohibition-era cocktail, the Bee’s Knees. Continue reading
Hot Toddy
The toddy is one of the earliest named drinks, and like others of its time (Collins, Flips, Daisies, etc.) has varied an awful lot along the way. Continue reading
Hot Buttered Rum
On a properly wintery evening, this is often my drink of choice. The “buttered” part tends to cause consternation in those who have not had it. Never let kneejerk reactions get the better of you! It has a very long history as a hot drink ingredient, and for good reason. In this case, it provides a wonderful, smooth topping to sip the rum through, and you will eventually find that it is one of the drink’s chiefest virtues.
Margarita
Did you know there’s a National Margarita Day? There is in the United States, at least, where it is by far the most commonly consumed tequila-based drink. It’s been assigned (for reasons opaque to me) the date of February 22, which happens to be tomorrow! It is my solemn duty to be sure you’re ready for it.
