I have no idea what the tune is for this, but it’s a lovely little poem in any case!

Riding in Style: Horse & Carriage
In New York City there is a splendid chap by the name of Naren Young who creates drinks, writes very well, and generally is the person I like to think I would have been if I’d properly thrown myself into mixology. Like your humble host, but with enormous style and education on the topic, he has a penchant for seasonal beverages. He’s left his imprint and inventions all over the place. The Daily is a rather inspirational cocktail bar that (at times) offers his gin-based punch, Horse & Carriage. It strongly echoes the best classic holiday punches, and as we stampede toward a season of celebrations, it looks to me like a fine place to begin.
Wisdom: Food and Love
Catching up with my haul of excellent quotes, let’s cover the convergence of food and love that more or less defines aphrodisia. Of course, there are many forms of love, and food intersects with all of them.
Now That’s An Arrival
Arrival
And yet one arrives somehow,
finds himself loosening the hooks of
her dress
in a strange bedroom–
feels the autumn
dropping its silk and linen leaves
about her ankles.
The tawdry veined body emerges
twisted upon itself
like a winter wind . . . !
(William Carlos Williams)
New Food Quotes
Ok, so they’re only new to me. But there are so many great ones that float by, I have to snap up the best to show you!
Back from Vacation
I hadn’t really planned to take a vacation, but an injury and subsequent recovery prompted me to go travel a bit. I’m back, with lots of fun ideas for you! Let’s get going.
First things first, I suppose: Can you comment? If you can, please do (the few of you still viewing this). The Captcha problem should be fixed, and the spam issue seems to be under control, so I just need to be sure you can join in the conversation.
