It tastes like a treat for the kids.
It’s not.
in the rain-
darkness, the sunset
being sheathed i sit and
think of you
the holy
city which is your face
your little cheeks the streets
of smiles
your eyes half-
thrush
half-angel and your drowsy
lips where float flowers of kiss
and
there is the sweet shy pirouette
your hair
and then
your dancesong
soul. rarely-beloved
a single star is
uttered,and i
think
of you

Kola is the origin of the word “cola” but has no particular relation to gotu kola. It is the name of any species of tree in the genus Cola. They are caffeine-bearing plants used to flavor beverages. Bet you didn’t see that one coming!
I can’t believe I haven’t been making this for years. It’s so simple, so delicious, so refreshing on a hot day in the Garden, simply outstanding as a light lunch or appetizer.
You probably haven’t heard of this one. It’s a nearly forgotten 1960s classic (I have a note here that it was mentioned on Mad Men) which deserves revival. Simple, clean, lovely.
It’s a huge subject. Entire philosophies – from Buddhism to Epicureanism – have been built around it, its problems and pleasures.
Desire. The strong feeling of wanting.
What other woman would be haunted by
the ‘L’ in Drake’s equation?
How many civilizations
have come and gone
leaving behind nothing more
than cosmic dust & vibrations
to say we were here —
we loved,
we mattered
And when my finger slides gently underneath
the silk strap on your shoulder
and you drop your inhibitions to the floor
like the useless things they are
we will turn on the lights this last time
make love like a supernova
and every living creature
in the universe
will know my name
Clary sage (Salvia sclarea) is in the same genus as common sage (Salvia officinalis) but should not be confused with it. The genus is enormous. Clary sage is grown mostly for its essential oil, which is used in perfumes and flavorings.
At last, the food pages (if not their original posts) have been disentangled from the recipe plug-ins which slowed things down and made editing a royal pain. And honestly, I find my new format much easier to read from the point of view of actually cooking!
So have a look at what the Food page looks like now, noting the much easier breakdown of categories. Aside from simply making more sense, they will hugely reduce the amount of scrolling one must needs do on the dropdown menus. The Drink section needs doing as well, since that’s already out of hand, but that’s a challenge for another day. For now, I’ll be happy to finally start getting to all the recipes I’ve been wanting to tell you about.
